A recent case study from ABI Advantage and SkyFoundry takes a closer look at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Washington, D.C. Built in 1922, the building faced significant challenges in meeting DC’s Building Energy Performance Standards.

With an ENERGY STAR score below the required threshold, the team turned to a Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) approach using SkyFoundry’s SkySpark® platform. By digging into the data and working closely across teams, they were able to spot issues, fine-tune operations, and make meaningful improvements.

  • ENERGY STAR score improved from 66 → 82
  • ~30% reduction in energy usage
  • Achieved 2024 ENERGY STAR Certification
  • Ongoing performance tracking to keep gains in place

It’s a great example of what’s possible when you combine the right tools with a hands-on, data-driven approach. Even older, complex buildings can hit modern performance targets.
